Obituary of Richard Francis Smith

Smith, Richard F. "Dick" of Shakopee passed away peacefully Tuesday May 12, 2020 with his wife Barbara at his bedside. Dick's captivating smile and melodic voice will be missed by many. He loved Big Band and 1940's music, so in retirement Dick entertained at senior facilities for 9 years accompanying himself on the piano.

His birth was welcomed April 25, 1936 by parents Earl and Irene Smith in St Paul, MN. He graduated from St Thomas Military Academy with the Class of 1954 and was a manufacturer's rep in sales for many years.

Dick is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 30 years Barbara, their dog Heidi Ho and the two step children he loved as his own Jill Richardson, Chris Richardson and his grandson Jacob Dassler Richardson; his sister Mary Flesher of Edina, two nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by the daughters from his first marriage, Kathy (Terry) Lee, Terri (Chad) Sigafus and Mary Susan (Perry) Peterson, 12 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
