Obituary of David John Dingels

Dingels, David "Dave" John Age 76, died Friday, April 24, 2020 at Walker Methodist Care Suites in Edina. The memorial, funeral mass, and interment will be held at a later date in Olivia & Bird Island, MN. Dave was born July 14, 1943 in Olivia, MN to John and Agnes (Dvorsky) Dingels. He grew up in Olivia on the family farm south of town, and graduated from Olivia High School in 1961. Big Dave was a star athlete, at over six feet tall by high school, he lettered in Football, Track, and was captain of the Basketball team. He then graduated from the U of M in 1965 with a business degree. He married Mary Patricia "Pat" Edmunds of nearby Bird Island on August 29, 1964. They made their home in the Twin Cities and were the proud parents of four wonderful children. Dave worked for General Mills, Inc. most of his career managing their Betty Crocker promotion marketing and fulfillment department for many years. At home, Dave enjoyed doing landscaping, gardening and many do it yourself projects. He also spent several years compiling a comprehensive family history with over 4,000 names. With pride and attendance at hundreds of events, he watched his children and grandchildren grow and mature into fine adults. Dave retired in 2002 and spent several winters in Surprise, AZ. As his health declined these past few years, Dave enjoyed trips back to his family farmstead and holiday events and other milestone celebrations. Dave is survived by his four children: Paul (and Sheila) Dingels, Laura Dingels, Pete Dingels, and Zea Figueroa-Dingels; and his 4 grandchildren: Nathan, Alex, Oscar, and Ella; and Rocky the grandog. He was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Pat, his brother Robert Dingels and half-sister Phyllis Zenk. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Andrew Residence in Minneapolis. Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but he will live in our hearts forever. Blessed Be His Memory!
