Obituary of Dorothy G. Peterson

Dorothy G. Peterson, 96 passed away on March 23, 2020 in Hermantown, MN.

She was born in Duluth, MN on April 10, 1923 to Albert Sr. and Florence (Neff) Bushell.

She graduated from Duluth Central in 1941 and married Wilbert Peterson on June 2, 1945. They had two children, Jim and Carol.  She worked at Woolworths and Kmart, retiring in 1988. Dorothy was always known to have peppermint candies in her pocket to share.  Dorothy was known for her baking. Every Christmas her family would look forward to her amazing display of cookies and treats. Her delicious cakes and cupcakes were always looked forward to. Dorothy also had a love for music, playing the accordion and organ. Her grandchildren will always remember her playing and singing songs with them at the family Christmas parties. Most of all Dorothy was known for her kindness and smiles. She was truly one of the most lovely ladies, and lived as a wonderful example to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Albert Jr., and Franklin “Lauren” Bushell; husband, Wilbert on June 12, 1992; grandson, Donald Kolojeski in 2005 and great-grandson, Will Peterson in 2008.

She is survived by her son, Jim and his wife Annie Peterson; daughter, Carol and her husband Bill Kolojeski; grandchildren, Christy (Mike) Lamminen , Michael (Deena) Peterson, Sean (Kristin) Peterson, Darlene (Robbie) Kolojeski-Huttel and Steven Peterson; great-grandsons Jarid Peterson, Andrew (Julie) Kolojeski, Ryan Kolojeski, Conner Peterson, Isak Lamminen and Max Peterson; great-granddaughters, Kayla Kolojeski, Jordyn Peterson, Sophia Lamminen, Samantha Huttel and Ava Peterson.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Edgewood Vista and her Essentia hospice nurse Steve, who made sure she had the best care and her last days were as comfortable as possible.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
