Kathleen Puff

Obituary of Kathleen M. Puff

Kathleen M. (Sullivan) Puff, age 92, died, surrounded by family, on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in St. Paul. From her birth in St. Paul, on November 5, 1927, to her death, she nourished people around her with love, faith, and generosity. She was born in St. Paul to Parnell Sullivan and Loretta (Halloran) Sullivan, the third of four children. As a child, Kathleen studied tap dancing, ballet, and enjoyed skating with her friends. After graduating from Wilson High School, she attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul, receiving a BA in Elementary Education. She taught at private and public schools, including Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Columbia Heights for many years. She loved her students, and they loved her.

It was Kathleen’s smile and vivaciousness that first attracted her to Marvin Puff in 1948. They were married on July 1, 1950 at St. Columba’s Church in St. Paul and made their home in Brooklyn Center. Both enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Florida, California, South Dakota, and Arizona. In her later years, she loved reading, watching The Bachelor, eating chocolate, shopping, traveling to Italy, Florida, and Hawaii with her son, Arthur, and worrying about her children and grandchildren.

Left to honor Kathleen are her eight children: Michael, Mary, John, Barbara, Teresa, Thomas, Arthur, and Ellen; and five grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, brothers Kenneth and Parnell (Buddy) Sullivan, and a sister, Merle Mahowald.

A Memorial Service will be held in the near future.
