Obituary of Norma Monroe

Norma Monroe, 79, of Proctor, MN ., passed from this life on March 31, 2020, at Bayshore Health Center, Duluth, with her family by her side.

Norma was born in Littlefork, MN., on September 7, 1940, to the Reverend Edmund and Linka Beaver. She attended Spring Grove High School, where she met and married Gary Dosser. Together they had four children.

Norma married Larry Monroe in 1981, and they spent the next 38 years living life and creating memories. Norma had a long career working in various business and doctor offices, retiring from Daugherty Hardware in 1995. After retirement, Norma and Larry spent summers in Proctor and winters in Yuma, AZ. They enjoyed wine time on Lago Lane and socializing with many friends. Norma enjoyed reading, working puzzles & crosswords, attending craft sales & bazaars, thrifting, and antique shopping. She was an avid card player and loyal Vikings fan. Norma passed down the love of her Norwegian heritage by sharing her knowledge of lefsa and krumkaka making, along with many other family traditions.

Norma was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of United Lutheran Church of Proctor, Sons of Norway-Nortun Lodge, Moose Club, and Lions Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Lowell Beaver.

Survived by her husband Larry Monroe; children, Jane Martin, Sherry Kays, Lori (Perry) Larson, Eric (Laura) Dosser; Larry’s children, Laurie (John) Scheffler, Chris Monroe, Meg  Monroe (P aul  Petersen) ; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister,  Lois (Richard) Wintersteen; brother, John (Virginia) Beaver.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Bayshore and Essentia Health Hospice for their compassionate and excellent care of Norma in the final weeks of her life.

Due to the pandemic Norma’s celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Lions Club International or a local charity of your choice.
