Obituary of Allan Luverne Sommers

Allan “Al” Luverne Sommers, age 73, of Mankato, died on Friday April 3, 2020. Al was born on August 28, 1946 in Ellendale, MN to Bernie and Laurene Sommers. After graduating from Ellendale High School he served in the US Navy. Upon completion of his service, he was employed by UPS for 30 years until his retirement in the fall of 1998. Al was married to his loving wife, Alyce Platt on November 12, 1983. He is survived by his wife Alyce, his sons John (Julie), Dan (Nancy), Mike (Mona); brothers Jerry, Bob (Andrea) and sister Connie (Carey); 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many other nieces, relatives and friends. A celebration of Al’s life will be held at a later date.
