Obituary of LeRoy H Berndt

LeRoy H. Berndt, age 95, of New Hope, MN, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2020 and is now joyfully residing in his heavenly home. He was born to Clara and Herbert Berndt on January 25, 1925, in Canby, MN.  LeRoy was baptized following birth and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He lived his entire life in Minnesota, attending elementary school in Darfur and high school in Comfrey. 

After serving in the army in WWII and following his discharge, LeRoy moved to Minneapolis. He was employed by Fairview Hospitals & Honeywell. He continued working until reaching the age of 90, holding two part-time jobs at Amigo Service Center & Parents Autocare, in south Minneapolis.

Preceding LeRoy in death were his parents, and sisters Evelyn O'Hearn, Eldora Mead, Charlet Meenen, Kathleen Stark & Clarice Trebesch. LeRoy is survived by his brother GlenRoy (Connie) Berndt, St. James, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. 

LeRoy’s family is planning a committal service with military honors at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a future date yet to be determined (notification here when date is finalized). Regretfully no other services are planned at this time due to current Covid-19 restrictions.
