Dorothy and her son Tom were my key “go to” people when I moved within walking distance of Dicks Metro flooring, on 48th and Chicago, over 30 years ago. I remember Dick always being there, yet it was Dorothy who was cracking the whip! I loved her energy, her sense of humor, her honesty. When Dick’s moved to 56th and Chicago, well.. I expanded use of their services when I was managing a few properties right up the street. That’s when I think we became friends. Dorothy was special. I loved her spunk, and I loved her hugs. When I went through cancer, she tracked me down just to see how I was doing. So after that... I started popping in to just catch up on a regular basis, just because she was that special. She always was positive.. had an interesting story to share, she loved sharing earlier memories of her husband... parenting stories.. and she always was a good listener when I needed a shoulder to lean on. I will miss her. I will miss her kindness. She was always interesting, AND interested in others. With so much love... to her extended family.

I knew Dorothy from my neighborhood business association, as well as frequenting her and Dick's business. I loved her, she was funny, smart, and sharp as a tack. My kids loved her too, especially my daughter Penelope, who drew several pictures for Dorothy to hang up in her store. Every time we stopped in for a visit, she would show Penelope that she still had all her pictures hanging up! She will be greatly missed, she was a treasure to this neighborhood.

Aunt Dorothy, I always called her that - Each time we saw each other we had a Hug to share....
I often went to the store and made a visit to see how things were going and enjoyed visits and conversations about the past.
My Aunt was always willing to help others and gave of herself.
We will miss her dearly - My sincere condolences to the Family.
With love,

First of all, I want to offer my sincere condolences to Dick and Tom as well as the entire family .Needless to say , I was in complete shock, when I came accross Dorothys obituary today. The last day that I talked to Dorothy was the day she retired and moved out of the store . My name is Bob Bevan and I sold various brands of carpet to Dorothy for over 40 yrs. Not only was she one of my favorite customers but a good friend as well . We had many great conversations during my sales calls to her three different store locations and most of those conversations were centered around her Children , Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren . She was very proud
of all the kids and loved to talk about them . She also loved to talk about Dick and his many accomplishments in the city of Minneapolis . I'll miss those visits and I know she'll be greatly missed by all who loved her . Dorothy was a great lady ! May you rest in peace Dorothy !

Dear Aunt Dorothy...her favorite color was Eggplant. Such a pretty deep color reminding me of royalty. My earliest memory is being at their home was when I was 5 years old. She made me a peanut butter and honey sandwich. I had never had that combo before. Dorothy was a hard working Mom always finding creative ways to support her family. I remember when she sold material and yard goods, she had a party at our house and she was a great sales lady. She was clever, and she was a good cook. I remember her hosting a "ladies only" lunch to celebrate Great Aunt Loretta's birthday. She made a great Date torte and I just had to get the recipe. Family picnics in the city gathered us all together, and of course there was always the annual Memorial Day picnic at Fran and Ray's farm. My last conversation with her was just before her kidney biopsy. I asked if I could pray for her on the phone. She was so blessed by my gesture. I'm so glad I made that call to see how she was doing. I will miss stopping in at the store on Chicago Avenue. She was happy to receive my Christmas "gift" of granola, this past December though she wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I should of stuck with my Spicy nuts, those I know she really enjoyed. Peace to all of you, cousins and dear Uncle Richard. Love niece and cousin, Connie
