Obituary of Wallace (Wally) Peter Janczak

Wallace (Wally) Peter Janczak, 92, lifelong resident of Duluth, Minnesota died Monday, March 30, 2020, at Barnes Care Assisted Living in Esko, Minnesota. Wally was born on January 18, 1928 in Duluth, Minnesota to Joseph and Sophie (Sojka) Janczak. He attended Denfeld High School, served in the Army Air Force and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for MnDOT. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was a lifelong member of St. Josephat’s Polish National Catholic Church, which he served as a Board Member. Wally fell in love with and married Eileen Pietila of Kettle River on October 24, 1953. Wally enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, music (playing the accordion and concertina), and taking road trips with Eileen. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marie (Phil) Bassa, Irene (Ted) Bassa, Dorothy (Ed) Bussa, Florence (Marvin) Lofald, Margaret (Howard) Pederson, and Marcella (Arthur) Thompson, brothers Frank (Audrey) Janczak and Stanley Janczak. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eileen Janczak, brothers-in-law Howard Pederson and Arthur Thompson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wally was a very special, kind and loving husband, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. A heartfelt thank you to Barnes Care Assisted Living staff, St. Croix Hospice and Rev. Steve Wlosinski.
