Obituary of Robert R. Olson

Robert R. Olson, 85, of Hermantown and formerly of West Duluth, passed away in St. Luke’s Hospital on March 14, 2020.

Bob was born and raised in Duluth, graduated from St. Jean Catholic School in 1952 and married Kathleen in 1957.

He was employed by St. Louis County for 36 years, retiring as a Deputy County Auditor. He was a member of the 148th FW, MN Air National Guard, Duluth, MN, for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E-7). He belonged to the American Legion Post 71 in West Duluth for 39 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Mary Olson; brother, Kenneth F. Olson Sr; and sister, June O. Szymczak.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons, Randall (Patricia) and Paul (Kathleen); grandchildren, Paul, Glen, Karen (Jeremy) Sellin, and Rochelle (Nick) Christy; and great-grandchildren, Henry Sellin, Harper Sellin and Logan Christy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
