Obituary of Neil Richard Gratiot

Neil Gratiot was born on November 19, 1937 and passed peacefully on March 5, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Arlene Gratiot, sister Violet Kubart, stepson Scott Davis, and grandson Cody Davis.

Neil is survived by his wife Gail, sister Lois Turcott, special cousin Doris Myers, son Joel, daughter Melissa Poole (Scott), stepsons Bradley Davis (Robin), Kenny Davis (Deb), Lee Davis (Tina), Michael Larson (Stacy), grandchildren Jessica, Scotty, Jenna, Kenny, Emelia,

Katrina, Erik, Nikole, Nautika, 12 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Plus, lots of liars and bullshitters. Neil served his country in the Air Force from 1954-57, as a cook at various duty stations, from Texas to the Caribbean Sea. Neil worked in construction, but his true trade and passion was processing meat and creating sausage. He enjoyed swapping recipes, discussing seasonings, and sharing his creations with those he loved.

Neil also treasured hunting for big bucks and birds, catching a 32” walleye, camping, and wheeling with family and friends. He was talented at telling stories and singing songs- especially to his grandchildren, and never forgetting the perfect joke for every occasion.

Neil had a kind heart and he appreciated the moments he spent with you. He was a strong and gentle man, that touched all of our lives.
