I'm so sorry to hear about Milan's passing. I met Milan at Perk Place during a Lake Superior Writer's gathering. I was fortunate to visit with him many times after that at writers' gatherings at Perk Place. I read his memoir, Ma's Dictionary, and attended two of his community ed classes to discuss his book. I loved his book. Milan was a wonderful writer. His book combined his personal story with social commentary on class, education, immigration, and change. His book was a joy to read, and it made me think about many issues. Milan encouraged me as a writer. He took the time to read some of my short stories and essays and give me feedback. My deepest sympathy to all of Milan's family.
