My deepest sympathies go to all of you. I just found out today (June 30th) at the noon Mass at St. John Neumann that Clarence had passed away. The Mass intention was for him today. It came as a bit of a shock, because I remember Clarence as so vibrant, so positive, and so determined.
How do I know Clarence? He used to be my Number One substitute teacher at Falcon Ridge. Clarence was excellent and the students loved him. I never had to worry when I was not at school, because Clarence took everything over. He knew math and he knew how to teach it. I will be forever grateful for him. We would also have great conversations about St. John's and St. Ben's (as I am a former St. Ben's student myself.) In addition, my relatives are also from the Melrose/New Munich area, so we knew many of the same families.
You need to know that he was so proud of all of you. He would talk about his kids and his grandkids often, and his eyes would always light up. He was proud of who you were as people as was so proud of all your accomplishments. And of course, the love showed in his eyes when he talked about his wife.
My prayers and thoughts are with you and with Clarence. Here is to a wonderful man who gave of himself selflessly and made a difference in the lives of so many... God bless you.
