Obituary of William Albert Porter

William “Bill” Porter was born on September 3rd, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to William Bishop and Dorothy Elizabeth (Powers) Porter. He is survived by his wife Holly (Loeslie) Porter, of Bloomington MN. He is also survived by his three children, Brian, Dan, and Elizabeth (Sherrer) and their families; four step-sons, Chad, Brandon, Matthew, and Luke McGuire and their families. Bill is survived by 14 grandchildren. Bill graduated from Richfield High School and attended the University of St. Thomas. He started what would be a long and successful professional career at National School Studios (LifeTouch) in August of 1965. He worked in many roles across the organization in his 38 years there, including Territory Manager, National Sales Manager, as well as Director of Sales and Management Training. Bill’s passion and energy for Lifetouch and sales was an inspiration and influence to so many both in and out of the organization, and his legacy lives on in many there today. Bill retired from his career at LifeTouch in 2003 and spent many of his days with friends on the golf course. He could often be found at Dwan during the MN summer and enjoyed many rounds at Trilogy from his winter home in Gilbert, AZ. He was an active member of St. Peter’s church and volunteered his time and energy in service to many local non-profits around Bloomington. Bill was a wonderful father, stepfather, grandfather, mentor, friend, golfer, salesman, and volunteer—to name just a few. In his spare time Bill enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, poetry and attending many games, concerts, and other activities of his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
