Obituary of Joyce Lorraine Benson

Benson, Joyce Lorraine Age 90, of Burnsville, born February 12, 1929 in Glenwood MN to Edward E. and Grace Barsness, passed away February 2, 2020, after a brief illness. Loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John H. Benson. Survived by daughters Kathy (Peter), Janet (Danny), and Karen (Roger); grandchildren Lisa, Andrew, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Benjamin, and Courtney. Teacher, artist, passionate DFL Party advocate. A self-taught and accomplished architect, she enjoyed designing and supervising the construction of two homes. She was the family genealogist, and enjoyed many years of researching, first at the library, and later through ancestry websites. Patience was her strong suit, whether she was knitting or sewing for her daughters. She disliked patterns or constraints, letting her creativity take the lead. She loved dogs, gardening, and decorating, but mostly her family and friends. No services, per her wishes.
