Obituary of Marilyn P. Monson
Marilyn P. Monson, age 92, lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, February 2, 2020.
She was born August 13, 1927 in Duluth to Clement and Elizabeth Goneau and was a 1946 graduate of Denfeld High School.
Marilyn was very proud of attending the Carter-Mondale Inauguration in Washington, DC. She loved downhill skiing, traveling, playing Bocci Ball, entertaining and celebrating with her Dinner Club for over 50 years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; her parents; and son-in-law, Kalvin Peterson.
She is survived by her children, Bobbie (Mark) Macor, Pattie Fralich-Peterson and Rudolph III (Mari) Monson; six grandchildren, Angela, Joe, Dean, Dane, Emily and Jack; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; her brother, Clem (Mary) Goneau; two nieces; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Haven for their loving care of Marilyn.
Gathering of family and friends from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 6th in the First Memorial Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. Private family burial will be at Oneota Cem.
Memorials are preferred to the Denfeld Alumni Assoc., or the Alzheimer’s Assoc., in lieu of flowers.
