Obituary of Eugene Scott Powers

On January 17th, 2020, Eugene Scott Powers passed away. He was born on October 26, 1958 in Duluth, MN to Dolores (Dody) and Rodger Powers. He graduated with honors from Proctor High School, Golden Valley Lutheran College and Concordia College, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. He later graduated from UW Superior, achieving a double masters degree in K-12 school and community counseling and received certification through the university as a qualified neutral. He poured talent and passion for his field as he worked as a school counselor from 1998 – 2020, most recently at Superior High School in Superior, WI. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lisa on Dec. 17, 2008; they will be interred together at Industrial Cemetery in Culver, MN. He was also preceded in death by his mother Dody, father Rodger, grandmother Ruth, brother Jonathan & mother-in-law Evelyn Harris. He is survived by children Bryan & Andrew Powers, Jaime (Valerie) Gonzales; grandchildren Milla, Nico & Juliette; siblings Valerie Larsen, Gerald, Jeffrey & Rodger Powers. He is also survived by countless adoring nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and his father-in-law, Robert Harris. He will be missed beyond comparison. Cremation services were provided by the Cremation Society of MN. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 25th at 2:00pm at United Lutheran Church in Proctor with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm. Pastors Jeff Holter and Peter Koeitz will officiate.
