Obituary of Diane C Harbeck

Diane “Skip” Harbeck
 

On January 11, 2020, Diane C. “Skip” Harbeck, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully and was called home at the age of 84.
 

Skip was born on March 8, 1935, to Robert and Loraine Calkins. She married the love of her life, Richard Harbeck, in 1958, and they moved permanently to Minnesota in 1970. They raised their five children in Hastings and Inver Grove Heights, and after Richard’s death, Skip relocated to Big Lake in 1996.
 

She dearly loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also adored her faithful companion, golden retriever, Lucky. Skip shared her joy of laughter by emailing/mailing jokes, inspiring others with her love of nature, and simply by sharing her caring, loving nature with all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Skip was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Loraine Calkins, her husband, Richard, and her son Bob’s wife, Karen. She is survived by her sister Kathy and she is also survived by her five children: (i) Mitsy Harbeck and her children Brian (Carrie) (and their children Lena and Maggie) and Liz; (ii) Linda (Scot) Schmitt and their children Brady (Carly) (and their children Mady and Luke) and Hanna (Ryan); (iii) Bob (Karen) Harbeck and their children Nick and Sarah; (iv) Nancy (Pat) Juarez and their children Ashleigh (Peter) (and their child Oliver), Patrick, and Dominick; and (v) Dave (Julie) Harbeck and their children Courtney and Samantha. 

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held and the family instead would like to invite friends to join in a Celebration of Life open house from 11 am to 3 pm on March 7, 2020, the weekend in which she would have turned 85. This celebration will be held at Rockwoods in Otsego and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Great River Faith in Action (Sherburne County).
