Dawn Stolee

Obituary of Dawn Michelle Stolee

Dawn Michelle Stolee, as written by her

Entered this temporal world: January 22, 1984

Entered eternal rest: December 25, 2019

After many years of agonizing struggle with mental illness, Dawn is at last in perfect peace. The deepest, purest desire of her heart was to be face to face with Jesus and to find out what you do when that finally is reality. While her final act was a choice to end her life, this is not what defined her 35 years of life. She followed Jesus with all of her heart, leading her to various parts of the country and eventually landing her in south Minneapolis for the past 8 years, primarily to invest her life in the youth and families in the neighborhood, especially Little Earth. When mental illness wasn’t dominating her life, most of her career and volunteering was devoted to pouring in the lives of youth and folks marginalized by society. She loved fiercely and without judgement. She was an activist and educator for the injustices she saw in our world.

Her desire is that she not be remembered for her leaving, giving up, and hurting the people she loved deeply. Her hope is that she be remembered for her deep, deep love of Jesus, His word, prayer…Her love for her nephieces – Caleb, Malachi and Eviana, her absolutely incredible friends…Her commitment to her sobriety and fellow friends of Bill W. (founder of AA) for more than 9 years…Her appreciation and respect for…

This is as far as Dawn wrote. Dawn’s family of friends was extensive.

Preceeded in death by Richard Guerrero, Grandparents, and many other loved ones.

Survived by her parents Claire and Sandy Stolee; siblings Jason (Lois) and Ryan; her nephieces, Caleb, Malachi, and Eviana; her beloved pit bull, Naomi Girlfriend; and numerous other families and communities that Dawn loved so deeply.
