Obituary of John Greeley Owen

John Greeley Owen, age 82, lifelong resident of Duluth passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, while at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born July 3, 1937 in Mandan, ND, to Pyrdith and Charlotte (Greeley) Owen Hansen.

John was an electrician and member of the IBEW #242 for many years. He also enjoyed attending auctions, and collecting and maybe selling his treasures.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Kari Owen Garner; sister, Kathryn Kelly; and his special buddy “Cowboy”.

He is survived by his wife, Taimi Ranta; sons, Steve (Laura) of Duluth and Jason of Milwaukee; stepson, Steven Ranta of Superior; grandsons, Alex and Brandon (Denise) Owen, all of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Allison and Caden; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Middle River Health and Rehabilitation for their exceptional care of John.
