Nancy Brucki

Obituary of Nancy Lorene Brucki

Nancy L. Dean Brucki, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, MN.

Nancy was born on December 15, 1938 to Garylord M. Dean and Helen LaGrow Dean in Magnolia, Illinois. She was the youngest of three children. She attended school in Magnolia and graduated from Magnolia Swaney High School. She then went on to attend nursing school, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Nancy worked as an RN at various hospitals and care centers in Illinois and Minnesota. She often commented how much she loved nursing and that it was perfect for her.

Nancy married Gerard Robert Brucki on June 23, 1962 in LaSalle, Illinois. Together they had four wonderful children; Mindy, Pat, Pam, and Valerie. They lived in Illinois until 1979 when they moved to Cass Lake, Minnesota. They were later divorced.

Nancy deeply loved her children and always stayed close to each one of them, and spent time living near them mostly in Bemidji, MN, Shelley, ID, and Carlton, MN. Nancy also loved her grandchildren; Justin Brucki, Macy Dearborn, Kaitlyn Anderson, Kaden Anderson, Jacob Bruns, Kaleb Bruns, and Jason Brucki.

Nancy’s most favorite hobby was reading - she was a voracious reader and enjoyed a great story, often finishing a book in a single day. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and some sewing. She also enjoyed plants. She loved holidays and get-togethers with her family and gave many gifts of crocheted and knitted items. Nancy did not grow up with much of a religious background but later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She often told her children of her love for the Savior.

Survivors include her sister, Ann Kennedy of Henderson, NV, brother Ronald Dean of Springfield, IL, and her children, Mindy (Greg) Schmidt of Rigby, ID, Pat Brucki of Farmington, MN, Pam (Benji) Dearborn of Carlton, MN, and Val (Mike) Bruns of LaPorte, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jacob Bruns.

We would like to thank Inter-Faith Care Center for the wonderful care they have given Nancy over the past couple of years - she was happy there.

Nancy’s wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes buried beneath a rose bush. Her family will carry out her wishes this coming spring of 2020.
