Obituary of Richard Schlener
SCHLENER, Richard "Dick", Age 94 of Blaine, passed away peacefully December 22, 2019 surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Jacob and Olivia Schlener; brother, Bob Schlener; sister, Ruth Bine, and son, Michael Schlener.
Dick was born in Richmond, MN and he worked for various Milwaukee and Minneapolis steel companies before founding Minncast Steel Foundry in 1971. Dick continued to work at the foundry well into his 70’s.
He was a family man; and enjoyed many fun trips with his children; taking them camping, fishing, skiing, and boating. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fish and boat the many lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He enjoyed winters in Florida, walking the beaches and fishing the piers. He was well loved by all that came into contact with him.
The family would like to thank all the care staff at Crest View, Blaine that cared and comforted Dad.
A celebration of life will be held at Springbrook Nature Center at 100 85th Ave NE, Fridley from 12:30pm – 4pm on January 3rd. During this celebration an informal memorial service, where friends and family are welcome to share memories, will commence at 1pm.
Memorials preferred to the donor’s favorite charity.
