Obituary of Clayton Ustrud

Ustrud, Clayton, Age 96, of Apple Valley, MN passed away peacefully on December 22, 2019, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marge; children, Todd (Toni) Ustrud and Robyn Scott; grandchildren, Amanda, Joe (Nataly), Ami Jo, and Britt; 3 great granddaughters; and special friend, Steve Scott along with beloved cat Athena.  Many beloved family and friends mourn the loss of this gentle and caring man. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Selma, sister Celeste, and brother Herbert. On December 27, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Rich Valley, 14385 Blaine Ave E, Rosemount, MN 55068, we will honor this kind and loving soul with a visitation from 10-11, and funeral service at 11 am. with lunch following the service.  Clayton married Marge on September 15, 1951 and they had two children, Todd and Robyn.  He had a long successful career with GMAC where he was hired as a trainee in Minneapolis. He served as Credit Man, District Representative, Territorial Manager and Credit Supervisor. In 1952 he transferred to GMAC, Fargo, ND, as a Supervisor and was later promoted to Dealer Relations Manager and Sales Manager.  In 1960 he became branch manager in Huron, SD.  Clayton retired from GMAC in 1985 and they moved to Des Moines, IA. In retirement he enjoyed oil painting, and left us several beautiful paintings and rose malling projects to remember him by. He also worked as a part-time driver for Ramsey Pontiac in Des Moines, IA.  Clayton and Marge later moved to Apple Valley to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren when Robyn was transferred by GMAC to Bloomington, MN in 2001.  Clayton and Marge were able to attend their grandchildren's school events and watch Amanda and Joe graduate from both high school and college, which brought them great joy. Clayton and Marge were longtime members of the YMCA in Burnsville where they cherished all the friends they made over the years. They also made many special friends at their church in Rosemount.
