Obituary of Jack Schouveller
John was born on February 20, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa to Michael and Cecelia (York) Schouveller. He was raised and attended school in Anoka, Minnesota. Following high school he spent a brief time sailing the Great Lakes on one of the largest ore boats of the time. On July 10, 1965 he married Gayl Lundblad. They raised one son, Richard "Rick" Schouveller. Jack was initiated into I.U.O.E. Local 49 on August 1, 1960. He worked under the Highway and Heavy Contract for a number of years, later becoming the dispatcher for Local 49. Later he worked as an area business representative, representing members and negotiating contract agreements. During that time he was elected to the chair of Corresponding-Recording Secretary and served as a trustee on the health and welfare board. He remained an active member for 60 years. Jack was an avid fan of classic cars. He greatly enjoyed working on and showing his cars at car shows in which he usually placed well. He belonged to MSRA and POCI.
John was preceded in death by his father Michael, mother Cecelia and sister Patricia (Jahde).
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years, Gayl, his loving son and daughter-in-law Rick and Sally, his treasured grandsons, Trevor and Ryan, his brother-in-law, Lou Jahde, niece, Michelle Carter and her husband Richard and their two daughters Jaidi and Raili, niece Tammi, nephews Michael, Mitch and Dan and their spouses and children, and several cousins and many friends.
Jack was a giving, honest and respected man who gave his time freely to help others. He will be sorely missed.
