Obituary of Dolores Macey
Dolores Pauline Macey of West Union, died Dec. 8, 2019, at the age of 86 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union with visitation from 9-11 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be at a later date.
Dolores was born June 2, 1933, on the home farm in Meire Grove to Joseph W. Meyer and Pauline (Welle) Meyer. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1951. After graduation she worked at First National Bank of Sauk Centre for five years. Dolores married Marvin J. Macey at St. John’s Catholic Church in Meire Grove in 1956. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Dolores did bookkeeping for Macey Construction for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7902 and held several different office positions. She was also 5th District President from 1997- 98. She was an officer for the West Union Sausage Supper for many years. Dolores was a member of Sauk Centre Legion, Christian Mothers and did many years of volunteering at the Osakis Nursing Home. She filled her days with baking and cooking and was famous for her angel food cake with her goopy frosting and date cake. She was always known to bake and cook in over-abundance. Her many hobbies included singing, fishing, bowling, crocheting, cards which included the games of 500 and smear, and dominoes, but most of all spending time with Marvin and her family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years Marvin, of West Union; sons Kenneth Macey and Mark (Janet) Macey of West Union; daughters Ruth (Rod) Meier of Sauk Centre and Judy (Todd) Cunningham of Roseville; brothers, Vern (Joan, Deceased) Meyer and Orville (Marge) Meyer; sisters, Janice (Neil) Eiden and Marie Meyer; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Mike) Robischon, Janie Radziej and Karole Sorenson; grandchildren Marshall Macey, James Macey, Rebecca Peterson, Katherine Macey, Ryan Meier, Renee Cossetle, Roman Meier, Hanna Macey and Dalton Cunningham; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Viola Meyer; brothers-in-law, Gerald Macey, Larry Radziej and Larry Sorenson; sister-in-law Joan Meyer.
