Obituary of Joseph Landowski
Joseph "Joe" Landowski
May 14, 1937-November 28, 2019
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 with a gathering at 10:00 and mass at 11:00 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park, MN. Father Timothy Gapinski will officiate.
Joe Landowski, age 82, of Waite Park died on Thanksgiving, November 28, after a more than 2 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his life as well as all extended family.
Joe was born in St. Cloud to Helen (Gapinski) and Theodore Landowski. He graduated from Tech High School in 1955 and married Betty Skajewski in 1959. Later in life graduated from Willmar Vo-Tech. He worked in sales at Welder's Supply in Wilmar then went on to open and manage stores in Worthington and St. Cloud. After retiring he moved to Waite Park.
He volunteered his Christian services throughout his life at churches, helped at food distribution centers and later was on the HOA board where he had lived.
Joe loved to travel seeing 49 states and the southern Caribbean. As well as travel he could be found gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed dancing as well as playing cards and socializing with friends and relatives. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. If any of his kids needed help with any project or maybe to borrow a car, he was there. As a "Jack of all trades," he helped with anything from building a tree house to home renovations to building a house! He gave a calm presence in times of trouble and a happy smile, joke and a laugh in times of happiness.
When his grandkids had events, he was there. His pride in and love for each child, grandchild and great grandchild was genuine and he left his family knowing they were loved and truly came first.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty, Waite Park; Sister, Mary Faust, Waite Park; Children, Mona (Mike) Norton, Waite Park, Dean (Celina) Landowski, St. Cloud, Bryan (Nancy) Landowski, Rogers, and Curt (Rachel) Landowski, Sartell as well as Grandchildren, Hannah, Christopher, Zachary, Casey, Josh, Brock, Corey, Peyton, Logen and Keaton and Great Grandchildren, Eric, Arianna, Chandler and Grayson.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Paul, John and Enoch.
