Obituary of Delores Elaine Grimm (Meyer)

Delores Elaine "Dee" Grimm (Meyer) passed away peacefully Saturday, November 23, 2019, in Bloomington, Minnesota, at the age of 88 in the arms of Jesus surrounded by the angels and saints. She was born April 10, 1931, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to William Walter Edward Meyer and Rose Elida (Olson) Meyer, the youngest of three children.

Dee married Merald Wyllis (“George”) Grimm of Melville Twp, Minnesota, in 1949. They initially settled in Minneapolis, relocated to a farm outside of Brainerd, Minnesota, then to a farm outside of Olivia, Minnesota. Eventually, Minneapolis became their permanent home. Following retirement, Merald and Delores shared time between their home in Minnesota and the home Merald built on Hickory Hill, rural Whitehall, Wisconsin.

Dee is survived by her son, Rodney (Sharlene) Lewis of Escondido, California; daughter, Gaylene (David) Poretti of Minneapolis, Minnesota; son, Mark (Debra) Grimm of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Celine Chang, Michael Lewis, Zamara (Luis) Cuyun, Gebra Cuyun Carter, Sean Cuyun Grimm (Sophia Moreno), and Olivia Ruud; seven great-grandchildren, Javi, Phoebe, Maya, Jalen, Adrian, Sean and Talia; special step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; dear companion, Ziggy Zoltners; as well as extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merald in 2014, and by her brothers, Virgil Lewis Meyer and Mervin Clayton Meyer.

A Celebration of Dee’s life will be held on Friday, December 20, at 3:30 p.m., in the Chapel at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington. She was a “ray of sunshine” to the many who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Now the light has gone away; Father, listen while I pray, asking thee to watch and keep and to send me quiet sleep …
