Obituary of Emelia Josephine Perkett
Emelia J. Perkett, 92, died November 25, 2019 at Benedictine Health Center in New Brighton, MN.
Emelia (Emma) was born at home near East Jordan, Michigan on November 23, 1927 to Albert and Clara Stanek. She was their eighth child of nine. Emma attended school in the area and worked in a bank after graduation. She met her husband, Robert (Bob) Perkett in high school. They were married October 9, 1950 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in East Jordan, Michigan. Bob and Emma lived in several different states before settling in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota where they raised their four sons.
Emma was always a hard worker. While raising her sons she decided to go back to school and become a nurse. She worked for many years at White Community Hospital and enjoyed her nursing career. She also loved to travel and spend time with family. Emma had many hobbies well into her retirement. They included playing golf and bridge, reading and quilting.
Preceding Emma in death were her parents, husband, Bob, daughter-in-law, Beckie, great grandson, Jacob, three brothers and three sisters. Emma is survived by her children: Pat (Cele), John, Brian (Lisa) and Bruce (Lola); nine grandchildren: Jim (Angie) Perkett, Katie (Lorin) Mislan, Laura (Nathan) Schulz, Paige Porter, Andrew Perkett, Erik (Katie) Perkett, Matthew (Emily) Perkett, Suzanne Perkett, Janine Perkett; five great grandchildren: Abby, Allison, and Maddie Mislan, Hayley and Dominic Perkett; two sisters: Frances Vert and Helen Anzell, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
