Obituary of Patricia "Patty" Northfield

Patricia “Patty” Northfield, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

She was born in Duluth on December 21, 1931 to William and Jenny Benson. Patty was very active in many Masonic Organizations. She was also the founder and director of the volunteer department at Miller Dwan Hospital. She ran Grandma Pat’s Daycare for many years also.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nine sisters; two brothers; husband, Jack; and one infant son.

Patty is survived by fiancé, Skip Larson; daughters, Cathie Heitsch (Jim) and Collette Illy (David); son, Johnny; and step-daughter, Jeannie McGath; and brother, Charles Benson; grandchildren, Jennifer Stern, Nicole Eliason (Lehr), Justin Heitsch, Jeremy Hudson (Danielle), and Nicholas Northfield; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

The family would like to thank the staff at SLH, 6W, 6 ICU, and Hospice.

Visitation: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. Memorial Service, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
