Obituary of Jack M. Johnson
Jack M. Johnson age 63 of Proctor MN (formally of Superior and Maple WI) passed away peacefully November 13, 2019 with his wife Peggy and family by his side, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Jack was born May 25, 1956 in Superior to Melvin and Dorothy Johnson.
By trade he was a painter but his real passion came in 2001 when he met the love of his life Peggy Schilla, he told everyone she was his destiny. They married in June of 2002 and began their journey together.
They became Adult Foster Care Providers and in 2005 they opened their home to their first four individuals who since became their family.
Jack was a kind gentle soul who would help anyone in need. His compassion for people was undeniably his best trait. His other talents include working with his hands and remolding their home, building decks etc. He loved to fish and travel combining both by making many trips to Canada and Alaska with his brother-in-laws. He got to travel with his entire family but also enjoyed traveling alone with just Peggy, from the East, West, and Gulf Coast. Some of his favorite times were taking small road trips with his wife by his side.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law; brothers, Terry Sr., Gary, and sister, Susan Moen.
He is survived by the love of his life of 18 years, Peggy; son, Jimmy (Lindsey Berglund); step daughter, Amelia (Chris Mattson) Schilla; grandsons, Rhett and Cole Mattson; sisters, Sandee (Bob) Knuckey, Tami (Neil) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Tim (Kathy) Schilla, Al (Kim) Schilla and Rick (Ellen) Schilla; his foster family, George, Peggy, Lloyd, and Jon; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and his dogs Jazzy and Nikki. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all their friends for all their kindness and help during Jack’s illness.
Service will be held on Nov. 30th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth with Visitation starting at 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm service.
