Thomas “Tom” Michael Bijold, 73, of Proctor MN, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 6, 2019. Surrounded by his loving family, we hope he was able to keep his tee time with his father on the heavenly golf course. Born March 26, 1946 to Walter (Mose) and Marion (Mayme) (Toor) Bijold, Tom was a 1964 graduate of Proctor High School where he played on the hockey team. He continued to play until he was 31 years old and maintained a lifelong love for the game.
On January 9th, 1965 he married the love of his life, Nina Chantelois. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this January 9th. Together they had three wonderful children Gwen, Mike, and Becky.
After graduation Tom went on to work for United States Steel for 8 years until they closed. He then started his career on the DM&IR Railroad as a Carman and Crane operator. He also worked as a part time Proctor Police Officer, read meters for Proctor Public Utilities and was a bartender for the American Legion and Moose Clubs. Tom built three homes for his family and helped build homes for others as well.
Tom’s favorite activities that he held close to his heart were; 51 years of trap shooting at the Jack Mead Gun Club, 50 years as their score keeper, and participating in 5 leagues at the Proctor and Grandview Golf Courses.
After retiring with 42 years with US Steel, Tom and Nina started spending their winters on South Padre Island where Tom golfed every day.
Tom and Nina also loved to go out dancing and listening to county music.
