Obituary of Joan Meadows

Meadows, Joan "JoAnne" (Dalebout)

Age 78, of suburban St. Paul. Left this life on August 22, 2019, with family at her side. She was grateful for the care she received at N.C. Little Hospice in Edina. Born in rural North Dakota, she graduated from Columbus High School (salutatorian!) and Minot Business College. Her celebrated 31-year career with the federal government, primarily at U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Minneapolis, was a particular source of pride. Her secret to success was tenacity and a willingness to connect with colleagues doing important fieldwork. An avid reader, she was often found surrounded by novels. The newspaper, crossword, and sudoku were markers of each day. She enjoyed traveling with friends or family, and especially liked visiting state capitols. Many of her travels were commemorated by a fridge magnet. Perhaps fittingly, her fridge has also since passed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Dalebout, and brother, Larry. She is survived by two children, a son-in-law, and sister, Carolyn. She found great joy in sharing life with many friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children. Her kindness and generosity will be missed. A Celebration of Life reception will be held Saturday, November 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina (952-800-1008). Casual, colorful attire preferred. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Como Park Zoo & Conservatory are appreciated.
