Ted Olson

Obituary of Ted Olson

Ted Olson passed away on October 17, 2019, and is now at peace with his Lord.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

He was born November 14, 1930, in Gilman Township, Wis., to Joel and Ellowen Olson. Born on a farm and being one of five siblings, Ted learned the value of family, hard work, and integrity and he exemplified these characteristics throughout his life. He graduated from Spring Valley High School and enlisted into the Navy to serve his country on the U.S.S. Midway.

Ted and Bev (Mattison) were married in 1953 and had four children. They moved to various parts of the country as Ted continued to excel in his professional career. They spent most of their days in Cleveland, Minn., until retiring to Isle, Minn. Ted always believed that actions spoke louder than words, and while in Cleveland, this was demonstrated by his willingness to serve. He taught Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF), coaced the Legion baseball team, was a scout master, and he served on the St. Peter Chamber of Commerce. During retirement, Ted became a Mason and he loved to fish, golf, and work in his ship. He always joked about the struggle he had deciding what to do on any give day: Fish? golf? or woodworking?

Ted will be remembered for his character, his love of family, his faith, his honesty, his integrity and his willingness to always help those in need.

Ted is survived by his wife, Bev, and their four children, Dan, Larry, Crystal and Bob. We are all so very proud of the life he led and the examples he set for us all. May God keep him close.
