Obituary of Emily Marie Erickson Hanson

Emily Marie Erickson Hanson, born 9/4/1919, age 100, died October 25, 2019 under the compassionate care of Edgewood Vista and Essentia Hospice in Hermantown.

Nicki, her grandson’s wife was singing and holding her hands as God welcomed her into heaven. Emily enriched her family with many conversations, memories, and modeled her steadfast Christian faith in spite of a difficult decline over the last five years.

Emily was born on a homestead in Montana. Her mother died when she was 12 and she was the oldest child. She was widowed 3 times and had 6 children. She spent her early life in rural Harris and raised her children with her husband, Philip, near Cambridge, Minnesota on a dairy farm. Later she moved to live in Mesa, Arizona for over 45 years.

She loved to travel even though she invested her life in her home and her family. She was responsible for instilling a strong Christian foundation in the family DNA.

She will be missed greatly by 5 generations. Her 6 children are Marion (Ron)Swanson; Philip J. Erickson, Jr.; Helen (Frank) Kampa; Elizabeth (Jeff) Stromquist; Julie (Bill)Tatum (deceased); and Betty Erickson (deceased). Emily had 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren (1 deceased), and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Edgewood Vista Chapel at 1:30 Tuesday November 5th.

Visitation will be at 12:30. Rev. James Joseph will officiate.

A private burial will be at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Harris, Minnesota.
