Obituary of Mary Baruth
Mary Florence (Reese) Baruth, 96, died peacefully at home, Oct. 19, 2019. Mary was born July 2, 1923 in Biwabik, MN. She was preceded in death by parents, Mabel and Arthur Reese; her husband of 57 years, Arthur Baruth; brother Patrick Reese. Survived by sons John (Becky), Jim (Diane) and Tom (Tina); grandchildren Lydia, Katherine, Michelle, Josh (Tanya), Ryan (Alana), Nate and Angela; 6 great-grandchildren; and many related by water and by love to whom she was a second Mom.
Mary graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis in 1941. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell. She served in the Army Air Force during WWII as Sgt in the Intelligence Office at Shepard’s Field, Texas, and Langley Field, Virginia. After the war she graduated from the MN School of Business.
She married Art in 1949 and they welcomed their three ‘works of Art’; John, Jim and Tom. Mary was a homemaker and worked part time for Dayton’s, Southdale. She was active in the Catholic Churches of St Richards in Richfield, and St Edwards in Bloomington.
She loved her family with all of her big heart. She loved to hike and go on outings with her best friend, Wilma, and spending time with her many other friends. She was an accomplished paint-by number artist. She loved to laugh and spending summers at her beloved cabin on Wynne Lake.
Mass St. Edwards Church, 94th & Nesbitt, Bloomington, Oct. 26, 11:00 AM. Visitation one hour prior at 10:00 AM. Internment summer 2020 in Biwabik, MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Young at Heart, St. Edward’s Church, or to charity of your choice.
