Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Angell
Ruth E. Angell of Bloomington, MN passed away October, 8, 2019 at 100 years of age.
Ruth was born to Norwegian immigrants Elias and Hilda Angell on 8/16/1919 in Thief River Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Philip, sisters Agnes Hanson, Signe Anderson, Leonella DePay, and twin sister Ruby LeRoy. Ruth and Ruby sang and played guitar and mandolin on the radio as the "Girls in Gingham" in Grand Forks, Fargo and Minneapolis. Ruth served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. She found her dream job at the downtown Minneapolis Public Library and loved working there for 25 years until her retirement. Ruth enjoyed traveling and was accomplished at many pursuits including needlework. Ruthie was a strong independent woman with a quick wit and an amazing positive attitude. She will be greatly missed by 7 nieces, 2 nephews and their families plus staff and friends at Presbyterian Homes.
Internment Thurs. Oct. 17, 1:00 pm, Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Mpls.
Memorial Service Thurs. Oct. 17, 3:30 pm, Chapel at Presbyterian Homes, 9889 Penn Ave. S., Bloomington.
Memorials preferred to the MN Landscape Arboretum, Chanhassen.
Arrangements by Cremation Society of MN.
