Obituary of Marion Ione (Hopland) Vezina

Marion Ione (Hopland) Vezina, 93, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2019 in Duluth, MN. Marion was born July 3, 1926 in Jamestown, ND to Oscar and Irva Mae Hopland. As a young girl she moved to Guthrie, MN where she met the love of her life. She married Clyde Vezina on June 4, 1943 and they began their life together.

Marion, along with her husband, owned and operated many businesses in Cass Lake, Virginia, Eveleth, Biwabik, and Duluth. Most notably she owned and ran The Grace Café along with running the café inside the Greyhound bus station. Marion enjoyed camping with her family, playing cribbage and 500, crossword puzzles, and dancing with Clyde. Her favorite times were spent with her many children and grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, her parents, 3 sisters, one brother, and a grandson, Mark Edward Vezina.

She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Nyberg, and her nine children: Clyde Gary Vezina, Larry (Pat) Vezina, Geraldine (Dan) Beck, Mary (Dean) Esselstrom, Terry (John) Devich, Carrie (Lynn) Slordal, Barry Vezina, Jerry (Pam) Vezina, and Perry (Melanie) Vezina. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at The Cremation Society of MN in Duluth on Saturday, October 12, 2019 with visitation from 9:00am until the 9:30am service.
