Mark was a fine man and an expert fisherman.. His father was a brother of my grandmother Ann Wick.. He once offered to take us to Isle Royal in a 16 foot boat.

Made a few stops at Fisherman's Home this past summer but all was quiet. Wish I had caught him one last time.
Mark has been very generous with his stories of the old days on Isle Royale. This through chance meetings on the island and through our conversations on the phone during the long winters. I'm really going to miss the guy but I'm very thankful for the time I did have with him. I appreciated his candor, covering good and bad aspects of island life over the years. But he respected everyone's opinion and always punctuated commentary with a good laugh. That gravelly voice will resonate in my head for years.
Fish on Mark. Your presence will always be felt on Isle Royale's south shore.

I met Mark in 1987 on the Rock and was his neighbor at Malone Bay in 1993 and had life's pleasure in his company from time to time over the years working at Isle Royale. A man with true grit who I remember fondly for the memories and things he taught me about Isle Royale and his family. -Marshall Plumer

Mark was one of kind and I well always look fondly on the time I spent at fisherman’s hole as a guest. Marks hospitality, stories of adventure and group singing abilities made my adventures on isle a cherished memories.
RIP Mark

Scott & Pat,
I'm sorry to hear of the death of your dad. I knew him for 40 years, beginning with his days learning to scuba dive in Rockford. We shared many trips to the Caribbean together and stayed in touch throughout the years. He and I would meet for a cup of coffee when he came through town on his way to St. Charles and back again.
I will miss him!
Sincerely,
Kevin Puckett
