Obituary of Wayne C. Leonard

Wayne Clayton Leonard, age 95, of Bloomington, MN passed away on August 31, 2019.  Wayne was born in Minneapolis. He joined the Army after graduating from South High School. He participated in the D-Day invasion, landing at Utah Beach and ultimately receiving a Purple Heart. He returned home to recuperate, and met his lifetime sweetheart, Ruby Ellen. He attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He proudly worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 32 years, before he retired. He is preceded in death by his beloved Ruby; parents Leroy Leonard and Alice Leonard; and brother Dean Leonard. He is survived by sons, Timothy (Gerri) Leonard and Daniel Leonard; granddaughters Melissa (Peter) Roeglin and Teresa (Corey) Palfe; and great granddaughters Emma, Lily, and Hannah. Wayne was a dearly loved father and grandpa and he will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 2:00 PM at the chapel at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington.  A family interment will be held prior to the service date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
