Lee Zanin

Obituary of Lee Zanin

Zanin, Lee

Age 80, of Edina, passed away on August 28, 2019. Preceded in death by parents Edmund and Meryl Zanin. This wonderful man was the greatest gift to our family: loving husband, father, and Poppa to the three grandchildren he adored. Lee was born in Chicago and raised in southern Wisconsin; he graduated from Elkhorn High School and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. His career path took him to many destinations: physical education teacher, salesman at Proctor & Gamble, General Manager of WWTC radio, broker at Dain Bosworth and Piper Jaffray. Along the way, he devoted many hours volunteering at Courage Center in the swimming pool and on the ski slopes (he was a natural at both) and at the Salvation Army ringing the kettle bell every holiday season. But family and friends always came first. His love of life, genuine interest in whomever he met, beaming smile, infectious laugh, relentless optimism, and kindness created many long-lasting friendships. Lee was an avid skier, tennis player, and golfer. He loved music, nature, and the lake. Being with his "Tuesday" golf buddies was a highlight of his week. Hosting friends and family at Z cabin was one of his greatest joys. And he loved to dance! We will miss Poppa dearly. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Barb; son Cory Zanin (Tom Buchberger), daughter Ann Mullinix (Scott); grandchildren Samantha, Matt, and Lily Mullinix; sister Joan Frederiksen (Bob); sisters-in-law Myrt Sieger (Tom) and Tena Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Park Nicollet for his loving care; especially Dr. Greg Lehman, Dr. Mark Menge, and Annie Watson, his hospice nurse. Our gratitude also goes to everyone at N.C. Little Hospice for their loving kindness and incredible support. There are truly angels in our midst. Memorials preferred to donor's favorite charity, Courage-Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, Salvation Army, or N.C. Little Hospice.
