Obituary of Donald Edward Wiecher

Wiecher, Donald Edward age 92, of Richfield, passed away peacefully, August 31st, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Don was born March 5th, 1927 in St. Paul, to Frank Sr. and Margery (Tynan) Wiecher. He joined the Navy at 17, and brought many of our soldiers/ prisoners of war home. He worked at International Harvester in St. Paul for 30 years as Parts Manager. He married Dorothy Engebretson, his favorite dance partner and love of his life, on June 30, 1951. They had two children Mark and Kathleen, and built their home in Richfield. They remained there 63 years, until this past April when they moved to The Pines of Richfield. Don enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time fishing and camping. He later bought a cabin on Big Pine Lake, which he enjoyed sharing with his family. Preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Thomas and Frank Jr. Survived by his wife Dorothy; his children, Mark (Jane) Wiecher, Kathleen (Dwight)Lewis; eight grandchildren, Sam Salseg, Jenna Johnson, Jennifer Herman, Tony Salseg, Andrew Wiecher, Neil Dobos, Rachel Hauser and Jessica Hrabe, and 16 great grandchildren, as well as two lifelong friends. Interment at Ft. Snelling Friday. Celebration of Life at Washburn- McReavy, 5000 W. 50th St., Edina, MN 55436 Saturday, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior to service. (952) 920-3996
