Obituary of Avis Frigaard

Avis Frigaard, 85, passed away peacefully after a nearly five-year valiant battle with lung cancer at her daughter Debbie’s home on August 28th, 2019 with her daughters and Debbie’s husband and children at her side.

Avis was born in McVille, ND, on November 13th, 1933 to Alma and Andrew Erickson. Avis graduated from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During that time she met her husband Bob who was attending the University of Minnesota. The couple wed on July 15th, 1956. After a brief time in San Francisco, Bob and Avis returned to Minnesota and settled in Roseville where they raised their family in the loving arms of faith as dedicated members of Roseville Lutheran Church.

As a devoted and loving wife and mother, Avis loved to travel with her husband and children. Many cherished memories were made on the family vacations. Bob and Avis continued their passion for travel and adventure, exploring many beautiful and exotic countries and cultures well into their retirement. They also shared a passion for square dancing, which they enjoyed for many years with their close friends.

Avis was preceded in death by her husband, her son David who was tragically killed, January 24, 2015, granddaughter Nikki, and sisters Lois and Lillian. Avis is lovingly remembered by her daughters Gwenn (Brent) and Debbie (Dan); son Ron; grandchildren Shannon (Shawn), Kristin (Jason), Hannah, Danielle, Ryan, Robbie, Marie, Lauren, and Ben; great grandchildren Lainie, Sydnie, Riley, Brody, and Madison; nieces Kathy (Clayton) and Audrey (Marlin), great nieces and nephews, cousins, and several close friends.

Avis will be greatly missed, but always remembered in our hearts. Avis and Bob’s wishes were for a special private interment service for the two of them together in the presence of their close immediate family
