Obituary of Geraldine M Hanson, Delbern, Marshall

Geraldine (Geri) M Marshall, 100, lifelong resident of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug 22, 2019 while in Essentia, St Mary’s Medical Center Hospice in Duluth, MN.

Geri was born in Duluth, MN on January 22, 1919 to Oscar H and Margaret M.(Shosie) Hanson.  She was the youngest of three children.  Geri’s brothers were Gordon R Hanson and Floyd  C Hanson.

Geri married Fredrick A Delbern on May 2, 1942; Fred was an Army Air Corps B-17 pilot.  He was killed in action on December 16, 1943.  Geri then married Joseph R Marshall on February 17, 1948.

Geri lived and worked in the West End (Lincoln Park) and West Duluth her entire life.  She has been a member of St James Catholic Church in Duluth for many years.  For the last 12 years Geri was a resident of St Ann’s Residence in Duluth and all of the residents and staff there became her family and friends.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers and both of her husbands.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews and she dearly loved each and every one of them and they all loved her very much.  The one thing that we will all remember about Geri was her generosity.  She was generous to a fault.  As one of her nieces mentioned whenever you would visit Aunt Geri she would always try to give you something when you left.

A funeral service will be held at St Ann’s Chapel, Duluth, MN on Thursday September 5, 2019 at 9:30 am with Father Richard Kunst officiating.

Memorials if preferred, can be given to St James Church, Duluth or St Ann’s Residence, Duluth.
