Joseph Machones

Obituary of Joseph William Machones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Joseph William Machones, loving husband, brother, and father. Joe died on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the age of 66 surrounded by family and friends. Joe was born in Superior, WI on February 6, 1953.

He was a boilermaker for thirty-five years. Those who met Joe loved him for his keen sense of humor. He enjoyed playing cards and a variety of other games with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and pontooning. While he traveled all over the Midwest for work, he got to enjoy more U.S. travel in retirement. Joe and Diana spent over a decade travelling, especially enjoying their time in Hawaii and Florida. They dreamed of moving there together but, unfortunately, Joe lost his fight with ALS before they got the chance.

His parents, Michael and Antonia (Burbul) Machones, his first wife, Doris (Simonson), his brother-in-law, Mitch Johnson and several aunts and uncles precede him in death. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Mulconrey), daughters, Emily (Bradley Horsmann) Machones and Rebecca (Brandon Israelson) Machones; stepson, Dana Rasmussen; siblings, Mick (Melinda), Mari Johnson, Sue, Joan (John) Mattila, Helen (Ron) Munkittrick, and Barb; aunt, Teddy (Machones) Travnikar; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews

. His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Mary’s Medical ICU for their care and support.
