Obituary of Maryann Olson

Maryann Olson, 87, of Silver Bay, MN passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2019 surrounded by family members. She was born on January 21st, 1932 in Superior Wisconsin to Alfred and Marie Pederson, the youngest of four children. She attended school in Superior and met her husband Walter (Skeeter) Olson in Superior. They moved to Silver Bay during the Taconite mining years, where they raised their eight children. Maryann’s oldest daughter, Marcia (Crist), was raised by her grandparents, Alfred and Marie Pederson in Superior, WI. Maryann loved quilting and sewing, and gifted many of these items to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed picking berries, hiking with Skeeter, shopping for shoes, jackets and accessories. Maryann laughed easily, was outgoing and loved reminiscing with her friends and family about the good old days. She also loved spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and enjoyed bragging about them whenever she had the opportunity to do so.

Maryann is preceded in death by her husband Walter “Skeeter” Olson, son Kenny Olson, her parents Alfred and Marie Pederson, a brother and 2 sisters. She is survived by her children Marcia (Tom) O’Brien, Gary (Nancy) Olson, Steve Olson, Sandy Olson Smith, Lauri (Gary) Hohman, Dennis (Cindy) Olson, Vicki (Ward) Danielson, Terry (Rob) Rolando, 18 Grandchildren and 25 Great-Grandchildren. The Family would like to extend a very heartfelt Thank You and sincere appreciation to the workers at Carefree Living of Silver Bay for their excellent care. A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date.
