Obituary of Janice Ann Kuhn

 

Kuhn, Janice Ann (Johnson) Janice died July 14, at age 79, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Jan was born and raised in Moline, Ill., and was a scholarship student at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, graduating with honors in elementary education. After graduation, she was married in 1962 to David Kuhn and began a teaching career at schools in St. Louis Park and Tenafly, N.J. She became a full-time Mom to children Sheryl and Stephen, as well as a church and community volunteer in Minnesota, Bethesda, Md., and San Jose, Calif. Returning to work, she changed careers and worked as an office manager, trade association staff member, and then as a human resources manager and forecasting manager for US West. Jan was an active volunteer and committee chairperson at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Edina, in PEO and in various charities. She was known for her intelligence, her outgoing personality and her great smile. She and Dave traveled frequently, going to all 50 states and about 35 different nations in Europe and South America. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Sheryl Kuhn of St. Paul; son, Stephen Kuhn, daughter-in-law, Karen Kuhn; grandchildren, Eva and Blair Kuhn, all of Tarrytown, N.Y. Her parents, Leslie and Vera;, and brothers, Dennis Johnson and Kim Johnson, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held Aug. 24, 11 a.m., at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5730 Grove St., Edina. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or to Good Samaritan United Methodist Church Foundation.
