Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Vesey

Vesey, Joan Elizabeth of Richfield (age 83) passed away peacefully on 7/11/2019, after a courageous 16 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Her doctors at Mayo Clinic attribute her "Bucky" Irish personality to the longevity of her fight. For nearly 40 years, Joan owned Cora Collins Beauty Salon, a quaint little hair salon on East Lake Street in South Minneapolis. With the coffee always brewing and an abundant amount of donuts, Cora Collins "Coffee Club" was the central gathering place for many a "blue hair". When the last client/friend was shampoo'd, dried and set, the back door was locked and there were many a story shared and tear shed. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Lyle. Daughters Peggy Meyer, Sheila Elliott Mitchell and her husband Matt Mitchell; 5 Grandkids, Matt, Julie, Ashley (Brenton) Hayden, Chelsea (Riley) Hoffman, Hailey (Ben) Wenande; brother Donald Farrell; Goddaughter, Diane Meysembourg (Alisa & Steve); Godson Gary Carlson (Sue); many neices. Joan is also survived by many friends, including dear friend Virginia Bistodeau. A note from Lyle to his little "hair twister" of 63 years; "Now the grieving begins as I accept that you had to take your last journey alone without me. I am also left trying to navigate my next chapter alone without you. My heart breaks to have kissed you for the last time, but I know we will meet again and until then-Love you, Lyle".
