Obituary of Sandra Dianne Novak

Sandra Dianne Novak, 74, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 in her home surrounded by family. She was born February 3, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Frank and Shirley (Plonsky) Hemze. Sandi married George Anton Novak July 20, 1963 in Minneapolis, MN. Years later Sandi and George moved to Cloquet, MN to raise their three daughters, Lisa, Dianna and Jessica. Sandi’s greatest love was her family and her love for animals. Sandi worked with Howling for Wolves, the ASPCA, and many other animals groups trying to either place animals or save as many lives as she could. Sandi went back to college in her mid-forties getting a 4.0 in both sociology and psychology. Yet, her true passion was spending as much time as she could with her loved ones. Sandi was also an avid reader and writer, spending much time in her library in her home. She loved cooking, baking and doing as much as she could for others in any and all capacities. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; Shirley and Frank Hemze and her husband of 38 ½ years George Anton Novak. Sandi was deeply loved and will be missed by her three daughters; Jessica Novak of Cloquet, Dianna (Keith) Olson of Finlayson and Lisa Bjorken-Capistrant of Watertown; two sisters Wendy (Brian) Larsen of Eden Prairie; Nancy (Gary) Marsh of Mesa, Arizona; a brother-in-law Leo (Jan) Novak of Spicer; 5 grandchildren, Blaine Bjorken, Alyssa and Sara Capistrant, Jesse and Josey Olson and two great grandchildren, Kaydence and Layla Capistrant. Sandi will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. A private ceremony has already been held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet, MN
