Obituary of Ronald Taft Immerfall

Ronald Taft Immerfall, 88, died Sunday July 7th in his home. He leaves behind his three children, Rhonda (Bruce) Holmen, Mary Immerfall (Patrick Cross), Dale (Micki) Immerfall grandchildren Harrison Cross and Steffan Immerfall, siblings Nancy Krantz, Bill Immerfall and Linda Field. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jane, sister Carol Romsos and Grandchild, Aidan.

Ron was born in Wayne County Michigan September 3rd 1930 to Albert Adam Immerfall and Irene Taft Immerfall. He left school after 9th grade and was proud of the GED he earned later in life. After leaving high school he worked on the family farm until joining the Air Force in 1951. While in the Air Force Ron became very good friends with Dick and Ray Hurd, Jane’s twin brothers. Shenanigans ensued and Ron was invited to the Hurd family home over Thanksgiving 1953 where he met Jane. Ron and Jane were married May 8th 1954. They moved to Silver Bay in 1957 and raised their children.

Ron worked at Reserve Mining in the plant maintenance department. He was hard working and had a strong work ethic. Ron enjoyed camping and fishing and built the families first camper by hand. He enjoyed wood working of all kinds. His wood carvings are cherished by family and friends. Other interests were snowmobiling, fishing, Polka dancing and music, especially “Old Time” music.

Ron had a wicked sense of humor. Very dry humor. We children inherited his sense of humor. Not everyone appreciates that about us.

Ron was an active member of United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. He was a trustee until the age of 86.

Ron was kind, thoughtful and a true gentleman. We will miss him terribly.

“The day is done. And the darkness falls from the wings of the night. As a feather wafted downward, from an eagle in his flight. And the night shall be filled with music, and the cares that infest the day, shall fold their tents like the Arabs and silently steal away.” - Longfellow

Visitation 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service. July 15th at United Protestant Church, 17 Horn Blvd. Silver Bay, MN.
