Obituary of Douglas D Lewis

Lewis, Douglas D. Age 101. Died July 7, 2019 at home in North Oaks, MN. Born January 17, 1918 in Wolverhampton, England. Survived by son, Dave, and daughter, Beth. When you live over 101 years, most of your family and too many of your friends have preceded in death. Immediate family members include his beloved wife, Irene, parents, David and Anne (Shingler) Lewis, sisters Olive Lewis, Hazel (Robert) Hunsche, brother, Bernard (Fran) Lewis, and son-in-law, Phil Baker. Doug immigrated with his family to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1922. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korean War. When stationed in England, he fell in love and wed Irene (Lewis) in Lampeter, Wales on December 12, 1944, and they enjoyed life together for 68 years. The family thank the staff at Waverly Gardens, BrightStar home health, and Health Partners Hospice for all their care. A celebration of life will be held at Presbyterian Homes Waverly Gardens, (5919 Centerville Rd., North Oaks) on Monday, July 15. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following. Memorials are preferred to MN Presbyterian Homes and Services Foundation or to St. Albans Episcopal Church, Youth Programs, in Fort Wayne, or donor’s choice.
